Redefining Justice: Shifting the Narrative from Punishment to Healing and Human Potential
PERCEPTION CHALLENGE
Restorative justice is often misunderstood as being “soft on crime." It's perceived as idealistic, lenient or lacking real accountability.
STRATEGIC SHIFT
A multi-faceted awareness campaign challenges the belief that accountability must be punitive. This ongoing campaign highlights how community-led restorative justice reduces violence and lowers court and detention admissions through conflict resolution and restoration, not punishment and isolation.
RESULTS
Developed a comprehensive plan for strategic communications, branding, and campaign rollout
Launched RJ Hubs’ first public awareness campaign and video
Created new tagline: Bridging Relationships. Healing Communities.
Strengthened brand positioning with updated logo and refreshed website
Increased visibility through digital, radio, and public transit advertising
Established new social media presence and voice
Grew website traffic and digital engagement across platforms
WHY THIS MATTERS
When justice is equated only with punishment, communities stay stuck in cycles of harm.
This work shifted public perception, positioning restorative justice not as a weakness, but as accountability rooted in healing and community strength.
By reclaiming the narrative, we helped RJ Hubs build trust, deepen impact, and make the case that healing is a form of justice, too.
